Job Description:

We are looking for a self-motivated lead P&C technician that is willing to be hands on with our field services group, providing oversight of other P&C and construction personnel. This is a remote, traveling position that is not based in the city below, but in the surrounding area. Job duties will include:

  • In charge of projects and manages up to 5 personnel
  • Physical wiring
  • Verification of all non-factory wiring
  • Commissioning of relays
  • Setup and configuration of all network (LAN/WAN) equipment
  • Verification of functionality of all equipment
  • Responsible for job from start to finish
  • Preplanning outages
  • Working with local P&C Oversight/Engineering/Operations to determine and mitigate reduced or inadequate protection situations
  • Planning and scheduling SCADA checkout
Other job duties are as follows in the electrical maintenance and testing of equipment from the 480 volt level to the 345 kV level:
  • Problem solving
  • Testing complex relays, including but not limited to distance, directional power, reverse power, negative sequence, differential, motor and generator protection. Relay examples include:

    • SEL 5010
    • AcSELerator Quickset

    • GE URPC (Enervista)
    • Cooper SMP Manager
    • SG Config
    • Doble Protection Suite
    • Hyper Terminal or Terra Term
    • Any other software that might be necessary to complete all commissioning related activities
  • Assisting field service teams during maintenance, shut-downs, startups and testing projects
  • Report writing

Qualifications and Requirements:

To qualify for consideration, you must meet each of the following:

  • Associates of Science in Electrical Technologies, or 5 years experience minimum equivalent experience
  • A willingness to be hands-on and work in the field with other engineering technicians
  • Must be able to clearly communicate in English via verbal and written methods, and be comfortable and effective doing so directly to customers and co-workers
  • Computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and AutoCAD
  • Must be able to crawl, climb, stand and lift up to 50 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Must have a valid driver's license, and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record
  • Must be available for periodic to continuous domestic travel
