Global Reman Day 2020
Online Event

Global Reman Day is a day when the members of the Remanufacturing Industries Council (RIC) and other companies in the industry host a variety of educational events covering various subjects about remanufacturing. Remanufacturing is the process of taking a previously used, non-functional product or part and returning it to like new or better than new condition so it can be used again.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the RIC turned Reman Day into a virtual event, featuring live and prerecorded webinars. We originally planned to host an event for local students at our campus, but social gatherings were no longer an option. We quickly shifted to an online event to accommodate participants working from home, out in the field or safely from the office.

To help spread awareness, we placed Reman Day flags in front of one of our warehouses and encouraged our essential workers on site to snap a photo with them for social media! To add a little extra incentive, we put everyone who submitted a photo into a drawing to win $100!

Our remote employees participated in the promotion with selfies, and photos of their children and pets with Reman Day reusable water bottles.

National Switchgear’s Sales Manager and technical expert Justin Miller recorded a webinar covering the visual inspection of an electrical equipment core, which is the first step in the Professional Electrical Apparatus Reconditioning League (PEARL) evaluation process.

In the webinar Justin reviewed what a core is and how its evaluation relates to remanufacturing. Using relevant examples, he gave an overview of how a component or core can be visually evaluated using the SMART criteria from the PEARL Inspect and Test Standard to determine if it can be reconditioned or remanufactured and returned to service. Watch it here!

On Reman Day, we had boxed lunches delivered to our campus for our warehouse and breaker shop technicians so they could sit at their separate workstations and watch the webinars while enjoying free barbeque!

We’re looking forward to being able to gather together again when this crisis has passed. In the meantime, we appreciate our #NATLfamily for their tremendous help and enthusiasm in promoting this important event!
