Our Circular Economy

The Quest for a Sustainable Future

Businesses around the world are acknowledging the benefits of building a circular economy by recycling, remanufacturing and refurbishing valuable resources. However, existing under the banner of an environmentally sustainable company goes far deeper than one's brand; it is woven into the fabric of day-to-day operations.

National is the quality industry leader in remanufacturing, rebuilding and reconditioning services associated with the surplus electrical market. Not only are we stocked with vintage switchgear, thousands of surplus circuit breakers, and millions of related parts, we are also a founding member of Professional Electrical Apparatus Reconditioning League (PEARL) and have served in various capacities to improve the industry of surplus equipment providers for its customers. For us, a circular economy is more than a way of business; it is our quest for a sustainable future.

Ph.D. and Technical Director of the Golisano Institute for Sustainability at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Michael Thurston stated at the 2018 PEARL Conference, “If it is our goal to safeguard an environmentally stable future, then it is imperative that we take a close look at remanufacturing equipment with the intent of returning it into service, keeping it in the system rather than throwing it away.”

The video below by the RIT Golisano Institute for Sustainability demonstrates this.
